Main Street itself reflects Vincennes' extraordinary legacy. The historic district runs from 1st to 6th Streets, and is home to authentic buildings from the 1800s and early 1900s, each holding their own stories. Vincennes became a designated affiliate Main Street through the Indiana OCRA program in 2015, with the initiative centered on enhancing the value of Indiana's oldest historic Main Street and developing a venue for community-wide involvement to invest in the Main Street area. That proud designation as Indiana's First Main Street reflects not just a geographic distinction, but a deep commitment to honoring the past while building toward the future.
